    Description

    1970 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe
    Viva Las Vegas Autos Presents...
1970 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe Autostick
This 1970 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe may be one of more unique and rare Ghias ever to hit the market. Not because of the rarity of it’s a coupe, 24,925 of those were built for 1970. Not rare because of its rust free body and floors. So why am I claiming this particular Ghia to be so rare?
It is really quite rare because it’s an automatic (AutoStick=Semi-Automatic). I have been hunting for the right Karmann Ghia for 42 years. Yes, you heard that right 42 years and I have never once come across an AutoStick automatic transmission Ghia. I’ve tried to come up with some statistics for how many where built with autosticks, but that information does not seem to exist. If you follow the VW Blogs and the Karmann Ghia blogs, a Karmann Ghia with an AutoStick is pretty non-existent. Between 1968 and 1976, Volkwagen produced over 610k AutoStick transmissions and that sounds like a lot until you realize that VW produced over 1.5 million cars per year each of those years. That’s about 12 million cars over eight years and only 5% of those were AutoSticks. So, this is purely subjective but I would presume without actual facts that 5% of the 24,925 Ghias built for 1970 would mean that less than 1250 were built with the AutoStick transmission.  Now, that’s rare and I can only imagine you haven’t seen one either; let alone a perfectly functioning Karmann Ghia with an autostick transmission.
First of all, let me confidently show you with hundreds of pictures and video that you are not bidding on JUNK! 99% of all  eBay motors’ bidders bid like that are complete cheapskates, “Garage Sale Mentality” lowballers that have NO REAL intention of winning or buying for even average market values! For those lowballers, go look for your cheap junk elsewhere! This 1970 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe is exceptional in every way. From the top to bottom, and everywhere in between, it's ready to be enjoyed without reservation. If you want to drive it daily or keep it for just those special occasions, this Karmann Ghia is ready for either. If you were here to walk around the Karmann Ghia for an up close inspection, you may not even see as clearly as you will in the 184 images and video I have posted here. Then open up the doors, hood to look at all the details and exceptional conditions you find them in...And it doesn't stop there. Drop down underneath and see a rust free floors and undercarriage that’s highly detailed without damage or rot. Now that you have probably seen all the images and you are back to read every word I have to say about the Karmann Ghia, I know you are very serious about finding the right Classic Karmann Ghia for the right deal.
I have been selling spectacular autos on eBay for over 19+ years and that means I don't OVER-PRICE my autos. But! I also can't stand Low-Baller idiots that can't see the value in quality. Read my 19 plus years of feedback to be convinced that what I show and write is always spot on. You will appreciate my candor and thorough display of what you might be the future owner of. There are 184 pictures and our video that I know you will want to explore before placing a bid or calling me to make your deal before the end of the auction.
Sending me an email through eBay asking for my reserve or bottom line will just show me you haven’t read a word about the car; your just here to kick tires and never get serious. For those that do send that dumb question, I really should ignore you because you never end up being a buyer ever. EVERY SERIOUS BUYER ALWAYS READS EVERY WORD and 99% of those serious buyers call me to make their deal early.
You, my serious buyers, YOU are Awesome! Thank you for being real people looking for great cars and a great seller who appreciates you as another car enthusiast just like me.
Talk to you soon. 702-353-7500 Doug

Ok, I think we have your attention if you are still reading and starring at the first 16 images of this beautiful 1970 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe. As you can see so far, the exterior is in exceptional condition with only minor blemishes. The body is in excellent restored condition front to rear; this 1970 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe has always been fully serviced and garage kept. You will be able to see in the hundreds of published pictures that I don't hide anything. The minor flaws and small chips are not over looked or hidden from view; although you are obviously not going to see any that seriously distract for the overall beauty of this Ghia. The paint is not in its original color which was red, but the light blue with the white top is just exceptional in every way. Polished to perfection with a mirror finish and smooth to the touch, the finish is shinny like new still. Obviously the paint is not flawless, but it is a high quality finish that shows exceptionally everywhere and would be fully appreciated even in a car show for outstanding paint.
The exterior will not need any repairs to fully enjoy the already exceptional condition it is in. But if you are looking for “Flawless” well I would suggest going to a Volkswagen museum in Germany so you can find a better one…or you can see in our presentation the extreme quality that is there, then by all means, let’s talk about your fair offer and make this purchase a reality for you.
Let's stare at some more images again...
    Interior...
When you open the doors to this 1970 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe, you will instantly see that its prior owners took exceptional care both inside and out without question. Door panels, dash, vinyl seats, headliner and carpet are all in exceptional condition with only the slightest wear from brand new. The windows are fully functional, the gauges all work. The interior is just beautiful and as it would have been originally. There’s a storage area behind the rear seat too, quite large as well. Didn’t know they had that until I bought this one .
The interior isn’t just clean though, it really appears like it’s only a few years old…not 51 years old. There aren’t any cracks in the dash; even in the speaker areas. The only interior item we found inoperative was the clock. The original radio was updated with a modern radio.
    Drivetrain...
We acquired this 1970 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe from its last owner who bought it years  ago for his granddaughter. She had a Kia in mind so this Ghia sat with his collection of classic cars until he decided it was not being used enough to justify the garage space. He did not do the restoration as it was done before his ownership of nearly seven years. I always like to acquire as much history as I can when I get a classic car, but this Karmann Ghia just has to show us all what it is as opposed to what it was. And what it is, it’s an exceptional and rare beauty that could be shown at car shows anywhere for appreciation. Not to mention you could drive it there with confidence too. .
After I brought it to our location, I always go through my cars very carefully to ready them for market. This 1970 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe runs perfectly. The AutoStick transmission shifts perfectly too…once I learned where the shift points are. First, the car will only start in neutral. The push down and up to the left for reverse , just like all Vdubs have been for years. Then you push down and pull down to your left for 1st gear. When the car accelerates to about 15-20 miles per hour, simply put you hand back on the shift lever and slide it straight up and slightly to the left without pushing down and it goes into second like it’s lubed with butter, then somewhere around 35-40 miles per hour, pull straight down to third gear. Once I learned where those areas were, it was as smooth as silk up through the gears and shifting down too. Going back into first I would usually come to a full stop but it will go in at less than 10 miles per hour with no problem. You will hear me grinding the gears in the video, but that was only the second time I drove the car. The transmission shifts flawlessly with a competent driver. Lol More importantly, the engine looks to be original to the car as it is date coded for 1970 and has the highest horsepower rating at 57hp with the B6 code on the block.  Lights, blinkers, brights, horn, wipers and even the wiper washer and hazards all work. The windows roll up and down perfectly smooth. The glass, chrome and brightwork is all in excellent condition and most even looks like new. I can see that there was body repair work done on the front end of the car and the nose looks incredible inside and out. There was a hole underneath the battery that our shop cut and exact fitment piece of metal and seam welded it into the hole to properly repair it. No Bondo was used. Looks perfect now with no remaining 3” hole.
The Facts & The Documented History...
When it comes to the history and documents, we acquired this Ghia from a serious collector that has quite a few cars in his collection. This 1970 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Coupe was garaged for years in his northern Utah collection for the last seven years. He bought it from a local restoration shop that had recently completed the full restoration shortly before he acquired the car. Aside from that history, we really don’t have much more to disclose. Drivability and it’s stunningly beautiful condition is what it has to offer and believe me, after 42 years of looking for the right very stock looking Ghia, I found a little piece of VW heaven here and so will you. Cheers

Viva Las Vegas Autos Note from the Owner...
I am a “used car dealer” but before that, I’m an automobile enthusiast. I love original, rare and high quality modified vintage and modern cars. Over the past 19 years I’ve been in business, I have come to appreciate an expanding selection of high-demand, high value vehicles as well. I specialize in and I am always on the lookout for cars and trucks that were cherished by their previous owners.
I have an experienced eye for quality and I’ve discovered that my preferred buyers can instantly discern such a vehicle and I have therefore, built my business and reputation around finding these kinds of cars for this type of customer. Super low miles and/or gentle ownership are strict requirements but a car must do something for me on a personal level if there is any hope of convincing you, the buyer, that this is an above average, exceptional vehicle. If nothing about the car excites me, it probably won’t do much for you either and I would soon be out of business.
With just four employees and no sales people, I realize how unusual a “dealership” like mine may be at a first glance. It has taken great care and effort to create such an organization and often, an unusually high investment in a particular car we are about to list. To sell the best it is critical to have a trusted expert in my corner. First we do an exhaustive 130 point inspection on each and every vehicle and hope nothing escapes our methodical investigation. Experience has shown that everything I spend making a car truly “right” will come back to me not only with a higher selling price, but a happy customer that says good things about Collector's Dream Cars. Moreover, it allows us to describe the car with ease and confidence, something that simply is not possible unless we think it is true. If major issues are found or the cost of fixing the car the way it should be makes it too expensive to sell, my choice is an easy one. I simply absorb a few hundred dollars loss for my trouble and sell it at auction so you don’t get a headache over the vehicle.
After the vehicle is fully checked over and made whole at any level it needs to be, we researches its history, documents, documenting originality and authenticity. Historical significance, rarity, special features, possible modifications, and much more are used to accurately describe the vehicle with integrity and honesty. Most important for the potential buyer are the 100 to 200 high resolution pictures that I take myself. The pricey equipment I use would be right at home in the hands of the very best professional photographers and I’ve developed a logical format that walks you around the entire vehicle with close-up shots of every square inch. I provide detailed views of the interior, under the hood and then put it on a lift to show the undercarriage and confirm that the beauty of the car you are considering is not merely skin deep. Even our detailers are enthusiastic about the cars they meticulously clean. Reconditioning can sometimes take several days as we do all that we can within reason to get our vehicles in tip top condition visually and cosmetically. We do Way more than just a cheap detail. Our details are more like refurbishing to as close to new as we can possibly get our vehicles.
Usually, I’ll also include a high definition video that shows the car doing its thing. If it’s a fast car, we film it going fast. If it’s a 4x4 you’ll see it crawling up a hill. In every case you will hear things like a rumbling exhaust, working sound system and watch gauges operation as well.
No “dealer,” on-line or in the real world, takes it to this level. No other seller or organization provides you, the buyer, with so much information. I do this because it is the only way I can convince a person; often a world away, unable to touch or feel their purchase that my vehicle is for real and what I say is an honest assessment. All the above is necessary for me to stay in business while keeping integrity intact. I want every buyer to be happy and I need glowing feedback on eBay. To accomplish that I need satisfied customers that are as thrilled with their purchase as I was when I bought it.
If you have any questions at all, please call me on my cell at: 702-353-7500. If your inquiry is sincere and your offer is serious, you’ll find me the most accommodating business partner you’ve ever dealt with. If you call or e-mail asking for my reserve or “what is my bottom line” I will be looking for ways to politely end the conversation. Until you are ready to actually make an offer, I will happily quote you a liberal suggested retail price – a number we both know will not buy the car so, don’t waste your time, or mine. I am after all, a “used car dealer.”
